Project Firstline

Offering infection prevention and control (IPC) education, training, and resources to OMA members and their healthcare teams.

Project Firstline, developed in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), provides infection prevention and control (IPC) education and resources for all types of frontline healthcare workers. The American Medical Association (AMA), Oregon Medical Association (OMA) and Oregon Health Authority (OHA) are additional collaborators.

The COVID-19 pandemic emphasized the need to improve education among healthcare workers, who are at high risk for contracting infectious diseases. These gaps include staying up-to-date on infection control practices, maintaining consistent cleaning standards, and educating others on IPC topics.

Through Project Firstline, physicians, physician assistants and their teams have access to short, useful educational resources, which include webinars with CME credit, links to additional resources, and information to access local infectious disease experts.

WEBINAR | What is Project Firstline?




Course Description:
This training aims to equip clinicians with essential infection control knowledge and resources, including identifying contagious patients, implementing isolation precautions, and safeguarding against infectious exposures.  Learn how the Oregon Project Firstline initiative and its educational offerings enhance infection prevention practices among healthcare professionals.

CME Accreditation and Credit Designation Statements 

The Oregon Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. 

The Oregon Medical Association designates this enduring materials activity for a maximum of 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

WEBINAR |How to Identify and Isolate Contagious Patients




Course Description:
This training focuses on teaching clinicians to recognize high-risk, contagious infectious diseases in patients, select suitable isolation measures based on their symptoms, and implement measures to safeguard against infectious exposures. Additionally, it covers protocols for effectively communicating information about patients suspected of having infectious diseases to relevant individuals within healthcare settings.
