Doctor-Citizen of the Year Award

Doctor-Citizen of the Year AwardEach year since 1957, the Oregon Medical Association has honored an Oregon physician with the Doctor-Citizen of the Year award. Its purpose is to recognize those doctors who generously commit their time and energy to community activities, and who work to further the art and science of medicine.

Special consideration is given to activities outside the practice of medicine during the past year.

The Doctor-Citizen award provides an excellent opportunity to tell the public about the many contributions physicians make outside their own profession.

Jim Shames, MD, a Medford family physician, was named the Oregon Medical Association's 2012 Doctor Citizen of the Year
