A Message on Meaningful Use from the National Coordinator for HIT
In his October 1 letter on meaningful use, David Blumenthal, MD, MPP, the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, discusses the process of defining "meaningful use" of electronic health records for the purpose of receiving Medicare and Medicaid incentive payments under the HITECH Act. CMS is expected to publish the final definition by December 31, 2009, at which point the public will have an opportunity to comment on the definition. The message includes links to the latest recommendations to the HIT Policy Committee and further information related to the definition process.

Most of their content is for MGMA members only, but some resources are available to the public, including a buyer’s guide listing several EHR/EMR vendors.
