OMA LAUNCHES OFFICE-BASED SURGERY ACCREDITATION SERVICE
OMA now offers an Office-Based Surgery Accreditation Program, enabling Oregon physicians to comply with the Oregon Medical Board (OMB) mandate (OAR 847-017-0005, October 2006) that physicians performing office surgery receive accreditation from a Board recognized entity; the BME recognizes the OMA Office-Based Surgery Accreditation Program as such an entity.
The OMA program includes a review by peers who are familiar with issues specific to Oregon medical practices. Both telephone and on-site educational consultation and assistance are offered throughout the entire accreditation process.
In addition, the OMA program offers outpatient facilities a practical, meaningful, and economical method for improving health care quality. “The OMA is very pleased to be able to offer Oregon physicians a cost-effective path to compliance,” said Charles Anderson, Chair of the OMA committee responsible for the program. “We believe physicians will like the program’s easy access, simplicity, and cost as well as the survey process itself.”
OMA’s rates are substantially below those of other accrediting bodies for this purpose and OMA offers a 20% member discount. For questions about becoming accredited or to enroll in the program, please contact Gwen Dayton at (503) 619-8000 or by email at gwen@theoma.org.
