Doctor-Citizen of the Year

The Doctor-Citizen of the Year award is presented to a physician who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to improve the lives of their patients, to advance the practice of medicine, and to strengthen the Oregon communities in which they live and serve. 

 

Angelina Plata, MD, FACP |Multnomah County Health Department and Central City Concern

Angelina Platas, MD, FACP is an internal medicine physician and geriatrician. She works for Multnomah County Health Department Health Services Center and Central City Concern. Both organizations serve people with high rates of housing insecurity, substance use disorders and mental health conditions. HSC is dedicated to people living with HIV; CCC is a Portland non-profit with services for housing, healthcare, recovery and jobs. For eight years, she worked for the Health Department at the Multnomah County Detention Center, the jail in downtown Portland, including at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and during protests after the death of George Floyd. She loves a rain run with her lab, Jeb.
